Lance, the site won't let me buy the download version. Other than that this is an absolutely great album. Awesome harmony, gorgeous guitars. Will listen to again and again. But would really like to have the MP3 download version too.
This is without a doubt a heavy metal record. A very odd record, but a good one nonetheless. The odd thing about Loch Vostok (besides the name) is how they employ vocal trade offs. There is a sharp contrast between the death metal growls and the melodic vocals. The death metal is not overdone, but is there for flavor, while the melodic voice reminds me of a young Geoff Tate. The music is progressive and tasty as well. The production values are good, but could be better. Other than that, the songwriting and talent is there. I would like to see what they can do with a bigger budget.
